Symbolism is the language of the spirit and of the unconscious. Mathematics are the language of physicality. Numbers are unique symbols in that they have both material and spiritual significance. This gives them the ability to transcend the physical, achieve the spiritual, and provide a complete language of existence. The following correspondences should provide a foundational understanding of what we call numerology.

1 = beginning, the fertilized egg, an element

2 = growth, duality, the beginning of complexity, loss of innocence

3 = stability, clarity, risk

4 = sustainability, rest, the beginning of foresight

5 = facility, capability, removal of needless things

6 = peak material completeness, plenty, use and conservation

7 = the spark of spiritual growth

8 = spiritual clarity

9 = spiritual maturity, quiet, solitude, material minimalism

We assign a number to Body, Mind, and Spirit. This serves as an indication of a person’s progress toward total completeness. The famous example of 666 indicates complete development in all spheres just short of spiritual awakening. This is why 666 is the “number of the beast.” It is the number of the perfected material being. We say it is the number of the beast because it represents animal perfection, a creature that is formidable in all ways, like a dragon. A formidable robot, like The Terminator, would serve as an equally good representation of “the beast.” It represents one who is strong, well learned, and has a firm grounding in basic spiritual symbolism. Such a person might be an athlete with good grades who is respected within his church.

In the so-called “dark occult,” a person who doesn’t have any sevens is “un-begun.” Such a person has not started on the spiritual path. Therefore, he has not been born into spirit. He has not been “born again.” According to more or less nefarious spiritual thinking, he is not even alive and can be abused without the abuser taking on karma. This goes a long way to explain why the world is the way it is.

We see these lower numbers prominently represented in gambling and gaming. On ordinary gaming dice, we can roll a six, but we can never roll a seven. If we used three dice and did hope to roll a seven, we would have to subtract from the other spheres to achieve it. In other words, a spiritual master can never enjoy material wholeness.

This also explains why it is both common and tempting to, as we say, worship The Beast. This is because what is meant by 666 is the highest, best, and most advanced state perceivable by the physical senses. In order to move beyond 666, the manifested being will have to degrade in one way or another. He will have to lose sanity, health, or connection to others. We see this in elders. This is why wizards and witches are almost always represented as elderly. Finally, this is why the number 777 in slot machines is the best achievable. It signifies a miraculous event.

A being that achieves 777 status might look like Obi Wan after being killed by Darth Vader. Darth Vader, on the other hand, represents a glowing example of a firm 666 level being. He too transcends this by being killed in the original trilogy. You might look at this numerical rating system as analogous to the level system in a role playing game. But instead of of developing in a linear fashion, one develops in one sphere at a time.

A college freshman with an entry level job might be a 354. Interestingly, a very young child might be a 227. Of course, the child will lose that 7 as she becomes more grounded in the material world. Look into the eyes of a few infants and this will be obvious.

It’s also interesting to note that women are more gifted in spirituality than men simply because their physical forms are less established in materiality. Likewise, men are more gifted in the material realm. This is why we are meant to support each other, because we can never have a full roll on our own while we inhabit these bodies.

This system is also the foundation of Tarot. Each card represents a step toward completeness in each of the four elements. The Trump cards represent spiritual influences on that journey, and the Court cards represent ways or styles of being that a person might embody along the way.

It’s worth noting that a person who has not gone beyond the 6 in any given sphere will not perceive sevens in other people. The incomplete warrior does not admire the complete mystic. And the incomplete mystic does not appreciate the complete spiritual warrior. After some consideration, I think you will find that the primary lesson in all this is the value of humility, which among the virtues is a solid seven.
