Part 1: Birth & Abandonment
Satanaya, Satana, Sah-Tah-Nah, Great Mother, First and Final Flower, Bearer of all Slander, my heart, my hope. Some call Her whore because She answers all who call.
They are lost.
She wove within herself and conceived me. She carried me in the wild, hiding away from all beings with the power of speech. She bore me in the Viards, an expanse of green mountains. She brought me then to Lapinheim, a castle of green and gold hidden in a warm valley.
Noble spirits rule that place.
Satana nursed me to strength, and I became aware of Her eyes like a starry sky in the hours before dawn. How I loved Her eyes. But the time came for Her to leave. She told me that the Nine Worlds are collapsing and that She did not have the strength to stop it by herself. “I seek sturdy souls to help hold Creation together in the final moment. I test them, teach them, and harvest them.”
She stroked my cheek without a word and gave me a glowing ruby on a gold chain. And She left. She vanished into the trees, and a star fell upward into the void. She left me in the care of the spirits of that place, good rulers and caretakers of the land. I began to wander the Viards. Often, I would fall asleep under a tree or by a river. My caretakers would find me and bring me home as I slept.
I went farther from home each day until I discovered the lands of men, the Vielands. These places were bright, buzzing with noise, and dirty. Inevitably, my curious feet carried me deep into the lands of men, I became lost, and my ruby went dark.
Since that day, I have had many terrible adventures.
